02.21.17New Kevin Woods Quartet Album "Catching Starlight" out March 15

I'm pleased to announce the release of my 5th recording as a leader, Catching Starlight. It features 7 of my original tunes, one tune I co-wrote with a dear, departed friend, and Blues for Wood by jazz master Woody Shaw. Joining me on the album of three of my closest buds and favorite musicians, Cole Schuster-guitar, Greg Feingold-bass, and Julian MacDonough-drums. The album is scheduled to be released on March 15th. Pre-orders are available by contacting me directly. The album will also be available digitally at the usual locations (itunes, Amazon, etc...). I'm real proud of this one and looking forward to hearing what folks think.

06.01.15New Faculty Position

I'm thrilled to announce that I have accepted the position of Director of Jazz Studies at Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Washington. I'm looking forward to joining a great team of talented and inspiring faculty and working with the students of WWU.

11.14.13New Quartet Album out in Early 2014

I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing a new quartet album in early 2014. This album of original compositions will be put out by Dazzle Records, a Denver based indie label affiliated with the jazz club Dazzle. Joining me on the album are Grammy winning pianist Brian Ward, bassist Scott Steed (formerly with Diane Schuur and Horace Silver) and drummer Dru Heller.

09.18.11New Faculty Appointment

I am happy to announce that I have been hired as the trumpet/brass teacher at Spokane Falls Community College. I will also be teaching various jazz courses.

07.11.11On Tour with Glenn Crytzer and his Syncopators in the fall

I am recording this week in Malmo, Sweden with my old friend and excellent guitarist Leonard Axelsson. After a week of playing around Malmo, we are going into the studio to record a few of my things, a few of his and a choice standard with Swedish bassist David Andersson and drummer Lasse Ehn.

03.17.11Sweden in June!!

I'm doing some big band transcriptions/arrangements for the Leonard Axelsson Big Band based in Malmo, Sweden. I get to fly over in Early June and play with the band in Stockholm!!
